Nick Dixon
Co-Anchor, CP24 Breakfast
Nick Dixon wakes up Toronto as the co-anchor of “CP24 Breakfast,” from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekdays. He joined CP24 in June of 2016, one week after his youngest daughter was born. Since then, he’s anchored “Live at Noon,” “Live at 5,” and has been on the desk and in the field for breaking news events taking place in the GTHA and around the world. Nick has also been a part of election and budget specials, as well as Remembrance Day broadcasts. In 2018, he joined the weekend anchor desk at CTV News Toronto. When the chance to anchor a two-hour prime-time show at CP24 surfaced in 2020, he returned to develop and launch “CP24 Tonight.” Prior to joining CP24, Nick covered some of the biggest stories in Canada and around the world. His second day as an intern at Global News Toronto was Sept. 11, 2001. On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, he produced a one-hour special and one week of special coverage from Ground Zero. In 2014, he covered the shootings on Parliament Hill, and had an exclusive interview with Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s family. He also fronted special coverage on the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, interviewing several runners who witnessed the blasts. Nick reported on the papal conclave from Vatican City in 2013, and travelled twice to Haiti in 2010 to reveal the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, where he reported on Operation Hestia, the Canadian Armed Forces’ humanitarian response to the tragedy. He’s also spent time covering the Ontario Legislature as Global News's Queen’s Park reporter. Nick earned a degree in political science from McMaster University in 1997, and in 2000, he decided to go back to school to pursue his passion for journalism. He graduated from Humber College’s journalism program in 2002, and was awarded the Norman Depoe Scholarship, given to journalism students who show the most promise in the industry. Today, he continues to work with Humber College on its Journalism Advisory Panel. Nick speaks English.
